As eclipse season draws to a close, the final week of August and the opening days of September bring a striking paradox of planetary energies — a harmonious Jupiter-Saturn trine on Monday offering hope and inspired practicality, followed swiftly by a tense Mars-Saturn square on Tuesday that could test our patience and resolve. Midweek introduces deeper emotional undercurrents, as Sedna stations retrograde and aspects to Chiron and Eris stir old wounds, the urge to blame, and questions of trust. Yet woven through these challenges is an invitation to release old victim stories, speak our truth with courage, and align disciplined effort with a higher vision for the future.

  • Why Monday's Jupiter-Saturn trine offers a rare blend of optimism and realism, and how this aspect connects to the Great Conjunction of 2020
  • What Tuesday's Mars-Saturn square means for forward momentum, frustration, and emotional maturity under pressure
  • How midweek aspects — including Sedna stationing retrograde — challenge us to release old wounds, resist blame, and reclaim our spiritual power
  • What birthday themes of truth-telling, communication, and inspired service mean for those born August 31 to September 6

Each week, astrologer Pam Younghans offers perspectives on the planetary influences currently at play. Consider this overview a compass to help you navigate both opportunities and challenges as they arise. Her insights are intended as guidance for reflection and empowerment, not as predictions. Your personal experiences will always be uniquely shaped by your birth chart and current transits.

FINAL WEEK OF ECLIPSE SEASON: The vibrational effects of an eclipse radiate out into the days that follow, with a gradual easing of intensity over time. Astrologers differ in their opinions about how long eclipse season actually lasts; while some consider the season to end 10 days after the final eclipse, I feel that it lasts until the next lunation—in this case, until the New Moon on September 10.

That being said, the powerful changes set into motion by our two August 2026 eclipses will continue to play out over the next six months, until the next eclipse pair picks up the baton in February 2027. With regard to the issues these August eclipses have raised, a check-in point will occur about three months from now, when the Sun squares the degrees of the Solar Eclipse (November 12) and the Lunar eclipse (November 26). Events around these dates will represent a next step in the unfolding of any eclipse-related changes.

WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER: The ninth month of 2026 begins with a paradoxical mix of planetary influences. On one hand, a beneficial Jupiter-Saturn trine that perfects on Monday provides a harmonious blend of opposites: optimism and realism, expansion and caution, playful spontaneity and a serious focus on the future. This aspect encourages our belief in a spiritual power and an ability to hold a higher vision, while also reminding us that disciplined, personal effort is required if we are to fulfill our aspirations.

In contrast to this supportive Jupiter-Saturn influence, a frustrating Mars-Saturn square is exact on Tuesday. Forward motion may appear to be blocked, achieving our goals takes more energy than usual, and issues that have been simmering could come to a boil. Obstacles that arise early in the week are likely to test our emotional maturity and our ability to maintain objectivity.

The creative and productive Jupiter-Saturn trine will repeat twice more over the next 12 months, indicating that projects we prioritize now either have a growth trajectory or will go through additional stages in the process of development. The Jupiter-Saturn trine perfects again on April 3 and July 11, 2027.

DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (August 31 to September 6, 2026):

Monday

Jupiter trine Saturn: Confidence and practicality work together with this harmonious aspect. This trine is part the Jupiter-Saturn synodic cycle that began when the two planets aligned for the Great Conjunction in Aquarius on December 21, 2020. The aspect provides an opportunity for humanity to take a next step in the development of a heightened social awareness that was initiated at that time.

Tuesday

Mars square Saturn, Mercury quincunx Saturn, Mercury sextile Mars: People may be easily frustrated and argumentative today. While we feel inspired to share our thoughts and ideas for how to improve a situation, authority figures or others we respect could dismiss or criticize our efforts.

Wednesday

Mercury sesquiquadrate Chiron: Hurt feelings are possible if we do not feel our ideas are being respected. Well-intended advice could be perceived as criticism.

Sedna stations retrograde: Feelings of being deceived or betrayed could be strong as Sedna comes to a standstill. The dwarf planet reminds us not to define ourselves by the painful stories of the past, but to let go of our old identity as victim through embracing our true spiritual power.

Sun sesquiquadrate Eris: It could be hard to rein in the need to blame or find a scapegoat with this aspect.

Thursday

Mercury sesquiquadrate Pluto: We suspect that there is more to a current situation than what the eye can see. The mind seeks to uncover secrets, to know the truth behind what is being presented as "fact."

Friday

Venus opposite Eris: There could be friction in relationships or disagreements regarding financial matters today. We might feel we have to choose between advocating for self and maintaining a peaceful status quo.

Saturday

Sun quincunx Saturn: The inner critic could speak harshly today, raising insecurities about not being good enough. A lack of faith in ourselves might be tied into the belief that we must be "perfect" in every regard.

Sunday

No major aspects are exact today.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (August 31 to September 6, 2026):

Speaking your truth and sharing your unique ideas are significant themes this year. This might manifest in personal relationships or in how you choose to share your perspective in the larger world, through your work or in your chosen forms of service. You could be inspired to work to improve conditions for those who are in need, experiencing physical or emotional insecurity in some way. All forms of communication—writing, teaching, verbal presentations, interviews, podcasts, etc.—are highlighted. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Mercury, sextile Mars, square Uranus)

Article Recap:

This week's forecast navigates the final days of eclipse season with a compelling tension between expansion and restriction: Monday's Jupiter-Saturn trine inspires long-range vision and disciplined hope, while Tuesday's Mars-Saturn square challenges us to stay grounded and emotionally mature when progress feels blocked. Midweek aspects — especially Sedna stationing retrograde — deepen the call to release old wounds and victim stories, inviting us to reclaim our spiritual power as we step fully into the energies of September.
