The week of November 2 to 8, 2026 brings a pivotal turning point as the Sun and Mercury align in Scorpio, offering illuminating insights at the midpoint of Mercury's retrograde phase. A powerful New Moon in Scorpio closes out the week, launching a new lunar cycle charged with intensity and the potential for profound awareness. Fixed star Alphecca adds a layer of both reward and shadow to this week's cosmic story, highlighting themes of rising through effort, generosity, and the risk of betrayal. Staying grounded and spiritually centered will be essential as energies build toward what promises to be an extraordinary few weeks ahead.

In This Week's Astrological Forecast:

  • Wednesday's Sun-Mercury conjunction in Scorpio marks a turning point in Mercury's retrograde, bringing clarity, revelations, and a meaningful shift in perspective

  • Sunday's New Moon in Scorpio at the Point of Avatar opens a new lunar cycle infused with deep compassion, but also challenged by willfulness and ego-driven energies from a Mars-Jupiter-South Node stellium in Leo
  • The new lunar cycle promises a rollercoaster ride of rapidly shifting circumstances, building toward a dramatic Gemini Full Moon conjunct Uranus on November 24
  • This week's daily aspects — including Venus opposite Eris, Pluto conjunct Juno, and Jupiter trine Eris — paint a vivid picture of relational tensions, power shifts, and emerging justice

TURNING POINT: The internal and external clarity we have been seeking may begin to unfold this Wednesday, November 4, when the Sun and Mercury align in Scorpio. This is the "inferior" Sun-Mercury conjunction, marking the halfway point of the Messenger Planet's retrograde phase.

The solar alignment that occurs while Mercury is retrograde often corresponds with significant realizations, ones that shed light on current issues and enable us to see a situation from a new perspective. The insights gained when Mercury is cazimi—"in the heart of the Sun"—provide a shift in perspective that then plays a significant role in our decisions and actions going forward.

Those forward steps are of course most supported once Mercury stations direct on November 13—which happens to be the same day that Venus also completes its retrograde phase. With both planets turning toward the future on that day, and with the dramatic Mars-Jupiter-South Node alignment in Leo at its peak influence, we anticipate a major gear shift in mid-November.

FIXED STAR ALPHECCA: At the time of their conjunction this week, the Sun and Mercury are also aligned with the fixed star Alphecca, the brightest star in the constellation Corona Borealis. In contrast to most fixed stars, Alphecca appears to be mostly beneficial in its influence. Astrologer Roderick Kidston provides these insights into the star's energies in his book The Magic of the Stars:

"Alphecca has been related to beauty and generosity, to acts of kindness and to rewards for good works ... With Alphecca, you have the opportunity to rise up high in life, but there is usually some hard work first. You may rise best if your efforts include some sort of spiritual or higher-minded focus. Good fundamentals promise the greatest rewards of all."

There is, however, a shadow side of Alphecca. When activated, it can manifest through scandals, underhanded dealings, betrayals, and being dishonored. We will see this week how both the higher and lower-vibrational energies of the fixed star play out in our reality.

NEW LUNAR CYCLE: A new lunar cycle begins at 11:01 p.m. PST next Sunday, November 8, when the Sun and Moon align at 16°53' Scorpio. This New Moon conjoins the Scorpio Point of Avatar, which carries the energies of true compassion and a profound awareness of deeper motivations. This influence can help us observe but not be overwhelmed by situations and people that engage with energies at the lower end of the vibrational scale.

Some of those lower-vibrational energies are likely to be very apparent as we begin the new lunar cycle, with the New Moon square the Mars-Jupiter-South Node stellium in Leo. We will no doubt see the darker characteristics of the roaring Lion being dramatized—willfulness, self-absorption, arrogance, and an obsessive need for attention, approval, and applause.

The South Node's involvement in the stellium tells us that the ugliness that is revealed at this time has a much higher purpose: to remind us of our choices going forward. Do we choose competition or cooperation? Do we insist on getting our own way, or do we make decisions that support the group? Are we attached to power and dominance, or can we work with others as equals? Is our main focus on "winning," or can we look beyond personal needs and make the welfare of all our highest priority?

The lunar cycle that begins next Sunday will no doubt feel like a rollercoaster ride, due to the speed at which situations will be changing. Energies will be building over the next two weeks especially, with a crescendo around the time of the Gemini Full Moon on November 24. It will be vital to stay grounded and to be consistent with our spiritual practice throughout this time.

That powerful lunation on the 24th will be very tightly conjunct unpredictable Uranus, and occurs the day before the transformational Uranus-Pluto trine perfects. Surprising events, unexpected news, major changes, breakthroughs, and breakdowns are all likely around that time.

DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (November 2 to 8, 2026):

Monday

Venus (R) opposite Eris: It could be very hard to find common ground today. People may be reactive and defensive, especially if they feel judged.

Tuesday

No major aspects are exact today.

Wednesday

Venus (R) sextile Jupiter: This is a very social aspect, inviting us to connect with others and to enjoy pleasant times.

Sun conjunct Mercury: The insights we gain today can provide a shift in our perspective, while also shedding light on our next steps.

Thursday

Pluto conjunct Juno: This may be a time of major shifts in alliances, committed relationships, and other partnerships.

Friday

Mercury (R) quincunx Saturn: Communication challenges and travel delays are possible. Decisions may be postponed, leading to a pessimistic mindset.

Saturday

No major aspects are exact today.

Sunday

Jupiter trine Eris: Legal matters get the green light and may move forward rapidly. This aspect especially supports and empowers women and all who have been ignored or denied their rights.

Venus square Ceres: Disagreements between family members can result in feeling defensive and resentful.

New Moon: The new lunar cycle begins at 11:01 p.m. PST, when the Sun and the Moon align at 16°53' Scorpio.

Sun sesquiquadrate Neptune: We may feel some confusion or a sense of disorientation. This aspect represents a conflict between the part of us that believes in being emotionally honest, and the part of us that prefers a gentler or less direct approach.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (November 2 to 8, 2026):

Throughout this year, you may feel yourself drawn inward, which can result in being less socially engaged. This may happen organically, or as a result of times in which you speak impulsively, tactlessly, or in anger. You are learning to honestly review your perspectives and your motivations before sharing your opinions. Your times of introspection can bring many significant insights and revelations, and also shed light on the root causes of any overly-assertive tendencies. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Mercury (R), square Mars)
